Songs From the Science Frontier is Here!

“Do you look upon the universe with wonder in your eyes?” asks the opening lyric of Oklahoma songwriter Monty Harper’s new CD of songs about science for learners age eight and up. If so, sings Harper, “then you’re ready for adventure on the science frontier!”

The CD is adventurous indeed, taking listeners to the cutting edge of scientific exploration with subjects like phototaxic bacteria, acrocanthosaurus, stress hormones, wheat genomics, bacterial biofilms, bat taxonomy, x-ray…

Seasons to be Jolly

Its beginnnig to look a lot like Christmas. The Shops and stores all with their specials and sales to entice you to part with your money. Christmas is a great time when family and friends are a little be nicer and patient with each other. I like the traditions we follow. Trimming the tree right after thanksgiving. We put up the lights on the house and the yard trying to instill memories that will last a lifetime. My wife makes her traditional fudge and we go skating and have hot chocolate.…

Transcript of December's Inclusivity in Music Blog posted in Mombian Magazine, Dec. 6

Children are born dancers. They have natural rhythm and no qualms about expressing themselves kinesthetically to the best of their ability. My band sees it all the time at concerts – at a show in the park we’ll notice a preschooler eating his picnic in time to the beat. Even babies will be sucking on their pacifier in rhythm. Walking down the streets of NYC, I’ve watched…

Thanksgiving a family affair

Thanksgiving growing up was a great time of year. When the family.. I mean the family uncle, auntie’s, cousin’s, neighbors, friends of friends, got together and we feasted. Our family was so large we had enough for 2 full football, volleyball, and baseball teams. There was enough food to feed a small town. We always had a TV going with the parade or game on. We had the…

The Fuzzy Lemons at the Knitting Factory, Sunday, November 14

Another sizzling set at the Knitting Factory! We had a good crowd (not our biggest but not our smallest, either) and a nice long sound check. The current Lemon line-up is pretty tight and the fans seem to dig it; Chris Moran is working out really well as our drummer.

But.

Kipley has announced that he’s moving to Chicago in 2011 and will be stepping back from the Lemons to focus on the move. This is pretty devastating news; there’s no…

This is an interesting quote..

Did you know America ranks the lowest in education but the highest in drug use? It's nice to be number one, but we can fix that. All we need to do is start the war on education. If it's anywhere near as successful as our war on drugs, in no time we'll all be hooked on phonics. ~Leighann Lord
