Australian singer/songwriter SHERRY RICH and her Boston born partner RICK

PLANT first met in Nashville Tennessee, fell in love, made babies and naturally

wrote little tunes about the wonders of new teeth, hugging and potty training. This

became the first MUDCAKES CD ‘Songs For Little Monkeys,’ self released in 2004

and voted in THE NEW YORK POST top ten kids CD’s for that year.

Two more CD’s, ‘Cave Baby’ and ‘Songs For Little Sleepyheads’, plus music clips

for ‘Monkey Boy’, ‘How Many Teeth’ and 'Jump!' have since been released to loving

reviews from parents and critics alike. The US Tour in 2009 spread the mud

through Boston, Nashville, Northampton and Philadelphia including a performance

at the prestigious ‘World Café Live’.

Kazoos, harmonicas, bongos, mandolins and electric ukuleles may all be spotted

onstage in a show celebrating roots music and the ups and downs of family life

with elements of rockabilly, folk pop, 60’s garage, surf, reggae, bluegrass and

ukulele-laced Hawaiian sounds. Kids [and parents] are always invited onstage to

join in the fun.

Since relocating to Australia in 2007 THE MUDCAKES have been leaders in the

movement towards more organic adult-friendly children’s music [ala Dan Zanes,

Cowboy Jason,The Mighty Buzzniks] staging their own special events [ Mothers

Day, Halloween,  Pyjama Parties] and playing shows at festivals, fairs, theatres,

kindergartens, schools, libraries, bookstores and major Arts venues such as the

Melbourne Recital Hall, The Melbourne Arts Centre, the Port Fairy Folk Festival,

the Queenscliff Festival, the Williamstown Festival, The Apollo Bay Festival and

Scienceworks Museum.

SHERRY RICH’s music has been widely released on vinyl and CD in Australia,

Japan, Europe and the US. Her previous and current musical incarnations include

Girl Monstar, Sherry Rich and the Grievous Angels,The Grapes and The Rich

Family. She worked as a professional songwriter for BMG Publishing Nashville and

then signed to BUG Music Publishing International. Titles from her song catalogue

have been used in TV  and movie soundtracks and recorded by major artists in

Australia and the US. RICK PLANT attended the Berklee School of Music before

moving to Nashville and working as a pro studio/touring musician. He has played on Grammy and Oscar nominated songs and performed with The Pure Prairie League, Buddy Miller, Allison Moorer, Emmylou Harris among others.

I love your name, The Mudcakes. No idea where "The Fuzzy Lemons" came from, we just thought it was funny. Maybe you can help us concoct a better origin story...
