Permalink Reply by Baze And His Silly Friends on April 23, 2011 at 9:02am I sent both of my full albums in, though you can only submit one at a time.
I waiting for the second one was recently selected so I am now waiting for that to be fully on Pandora
before I start spreading the word.
Permalink Reply by The Fuzzy Lemons on April 25, 2011 at 11:54am That's an interesting question. I don't know the answer but I have some guesses:
1) Songs that are fully produced, not simply demos. Got guitar riffs? Drum solos? A horn section? Backing vocals? The things that give a song its own personality.
2) Songs that catch the ear. Think of it as the "elevator pitch": You're in the elevator with Brian Eno and you have 30 seconds to convince him to work with your band. With Pandora, you get to send them two songs and two songs only, so make 'em your best ones, the hit singles, the catchiest, funniest, dancin'-est, whatever. The "deep cuts" can come when you send them your whole CD.
3) Songs that represent YOU. Which tunes showcase your strengths, your "signature sound"?
Just some thoughts. The Pandora people must get thousands of tracks to listen to every week. Excite them!

In choosing songs to submit to Pandora, can you give ideas on what types of songs you think they prefer.
Permalink Reply by Baze And His Silly Friends on April 26, 2011 at 9:53am They pretty much like all styles as they say they:
"Pandora thrives on little-known and yet-to-be-discovered music. Introducing listeners to music they've never heard before is one of our central missions, and we welcome independent artists from all backgrounds and levels of visibility, working in all styles"
I know they are very selective about quality, they don't want anything that doesn't sound up to professional standards.

I reckon that "genre" is wide-open, like Baze says! I stand by my earlier statement: send them songs that represent YOU. If there's a category that best describes you, then fire that dart right down the middle. Thwack!

Thanks. That all adds up to good quality. What I really wanted to know is if they are more Rock, Educational, Soothing Lullabies, etc. oriented. Some stations appeal to a certain style of music.
